Elementary Curriculum

Atkins Elementary School provides instruction for kindergarten through fourth-grade students.  In order to ensure that all students develop into independent, creative problem-solvers with a passion for life-long learning Atkins Elementary provides daily instruction in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and computer science based upon the Arkansas Academic Standards.  Students also receive instruction in art, music, physical education, computer technology, and library/media.  Atkins Elementary School is dedicated to fostering a culture of reading by participating in the Grade Level Reading Program and is a Reading Initiative for Student Excellence (R.I.S.E.) school.  The district adopted My Math, STEM Scopes, and Empowering Writers as the math, science, and writing curriculum for grades K-4.

My Math

McGraw-Hill My Math challenges students in a way that inspires them to embrace the power of mathematics through real-world applications and experience just how fun math success can be. By weaving the three components of rigor— conceptual understanding, procedural skill and fluency, and application— McGraw-Hill My Math enables students to progress toward a higher level of achievement and steadily grow their math confidence.

STEM Scopes

Promotes student inquiry and real-world understanding of science, engineering, technology, and mathematics through hands-on and digital experiences.

Empowering Writers

Empowering Writers provides teachers with instructional methods proven to develop sustained writing proficiency, support higher levels of reading comprehension and increase student literacy as a whole.
